Oliver Jacob Grebing

Oliver "Ollie" J. Grebing, 91, took the hand of Jesus Friday, February 7, 2025. He passed away at his home in Jackson, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born April 25, 1933, in Altenburg, Missouri, to Paul and Esther Weinhold Grebing. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Altenburg. He attended school in Altenburg and was a graduate of Perryville High School.

Private First Class Grebing honorably served in the U.S. Army from August 10, 1953, to May 20, 1955. His veteran affiliations include Altenthal-Joerns American Legion Post 158 in Jackson and VFW Post 3838 in Cape Girardeau.

Ollie and Marion Pauline Schade were married December 14, 1957, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Altenburg.

Ollie worked for East Perry Lumber Company, Fruitland Livestock, Gilster Mary Lee, and 25 years as head custodian for St. Paul Lutheran Church and School.

He was a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, serving on the Finance Board, Voters Assembly, and member of the Men's Club.

Ollie loved barbequing for his family and was known as the grill master. He also loved his garden and could grow about anything.  He truly had a green thumb. He also enjoyed Sunday afternoon drives in the country.

Loving survivors include his wife of 67 years, Marion Grebing of Jackson; two children, Stephen M. (Cindy) Grebing and Rebecca Leadbetter both of Jackson; three grandchildren, Josh Grebing of Cape Girardeau, Rachel Leadbetter of Jackson, Nichole Pingel of Wentzville, Missouri; great-grandchildren, Noah, Graham, and Lily Pingel of Wentzville Missouri; and a sister, Phyllis (Lee) Mueller of Aurora, Colorado.

He was preceded in death by a grandson, Clay Pingel; and two siblings, Imogene Thompson and Marvin Grebing; and his parents.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Thursday, February 13, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and Friday, from 9 a.m. to service time, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

The Rev. Joshua Schmidt will conduct the funeral service at 10 a.m., Friday, at the church. Military honors will be rendered at 1 p.m., Friday, at the Missouri Veterans' Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
