Paula Sue (Bridges) Cassoutt-Smith

Paula Sue Bridges Smith, 71, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Saturday, August 22, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born October 12, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, to Paul and Lillian Brennan Bridges.

Paula was a 1967 graduate of Cape Central High School.  She was a beautician at Kathleen’s Beauty Shop and later worked in food service at Grecian Steak House and Southeast Hospital.  She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church in Cape Girardeau.

She and Wayne Cassoutt were married in 1969.  Four children were born to their union, twins, Connie and Bonnie; Tammie, and Lancer.  Connie and Bonnie passed away shortly after they were born, and Lancer was tragically killed in bicycle accident in 2004.

In 1996, she married Ricky Smith.  He passed away in 2018.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Tammie (Steven) Walker of Greenville, Alabama, and several close cousins and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by twin daughters, a son, and her parents.

Cremation was accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Jeff Estes will officiate a memorial service at 1 p.m., Saturday, September 5, 2020, at Maple United Methodist Church, 2441 Jean Ann Drive, Cape Girardeau, Missouri 63701.  Guests attending the ceremony are asked to please wear masks.

Paula will privately be laid to rest at New Lorimier Cemetery at a later date.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Maple UMC Building Fund.
