Paula S. Smith

Paula S. Smith, age 58, of Altenburg, passed away Sunday, June 19, 2016 at Monticello House Nursing Home in Jackson.

She was born March 5, 1958, in St. Louis, daughter of Robert P. and Shirley J. Miles Hunter. She and Daniel Smith were married July 28, 1979.

Paula was a graduate of Ritenour Sr. High School in St. Louis. She earned an associate's degree in nursing. Paula worked as an LPN at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis, and was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include her mother, Shirley Hunter of St. Louis; her husband of nearly 37 years, Daniel; six children, Matthew (Zoe) Smith, Scott (Leigh) Smith, Laura (Clifton) Gentry, Stephanie (Travis) Olsen, Andrew (Sarah) Smith, and Aubrey Smith (fiancé Kaleb Ward); nine grandchildren, and one on the way.

She was preceded in death by her father and three siblings.

The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, June 24, 2016 at the chapel of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and Saturday, from 9 a.m. until service time at the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday at the church, with Bishop Jim Chesnick officiating.

Interment will be at 2:30 p.m. in St. John United Church of Christ Cemetery in St. Charles, Missouri.

Memorials may be made to the charity of donor's choice.
