Phillip "Blake" Phelps

Phillip “Blake” Phelps, age 53, lost his battle with a swift and difficult fight with cancer, on Saturday, September 5, 2026.

He was born on June 19, 1973, in Jacksonville, FL to the late John “David” and LaDonna Jo Meinz Phelps.

Blake was a 1991 graduate of Scott City High School. After graduation, he attended the Florida Culinary Institute in West Palm Beach, FL, where he earned his Culinary Arts degree.

He had worked at the Library Lounge, and for the Hickory House Restaurant in Jackson, MO which he loved. His family would like to thank Ron and Bobbie for ten amazing years at the Hickory House.

Blake was loved beyond measure and treasured so dearly by his family and friends.

He is survived by his sister, Tandra Phelps of Herculaneum, MO; his aunts and uncles: Tandy & Mike Wendel of Jackson, MO, Terry & Ron Atkins of Bourbonnais, IL, Gail & Morie Myers of Keller, TX, Dan & Carol Phelps of Cape Girardeau, MO, Nancy & Dave Underwood of Jackson, MO, and Donna Johnstone of Lancaster, CA; two very special nephews: Otis and Cillian St. Germain of Herculaneum, MO, along with many dear cousins and friends.

In addition to his parents David and LaDonna, he was preceded in death by his grandparents: Walter “Pete” & Arvazena “Bobbie” Meinz and Henry & Gerda Phelps.

Visitation will be held for Blake on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at the McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, MO from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour of 1:00 p.m., with Bro. Mike Hamm from the First Baptist Church of Scott City, MO officiating.

A private interment will take place at a later date.
