Surrounded by his loving family and friends, Randy Louis Statler, 71, passed away Sunday, March 29, 2026, at his home near Oak Ridge. Randy courageously fought pancreatic cancer the past 12 months.
Randy was born March 30, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, to Loyd and Viola Bender Statler. He and Sherri Brotherton were married September 8, 1979, at New McKendree Methodist Church in Jackson.
Randy and his father farmed together many years. In 1993, Randy became a professional truck driver, making local runs for several companies, including Resource Drivers and Huttig Building Products. He also hauled water, auctioneered, thoroughly enjoyed traveling with his beloved family, and spending quality time with his grandchildren, Bella, Carter, Mason, and Reid.
Randy and Sherri were members of New McKendee Methodist Church in Jackson. For several years, they hosted a weekly Bible study at their home.
Loving survivors include his wife of 46 years, Sherri Statler of Oak Ridge; sons, Dusty Statler of Windermere, Florida; Rusty (Paige) Statler and children, Bella, Carter, Mason, and Reid of Oak Ridge; Sherri’s siblings, Wayne (Lesa) Brotherton of Millersville, and Shiela (Jerry) Tuschhoff of Cape Girardeau; and several nieces and nephews; and many dear friends who supported the family throughout Randy’s journey.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a stillborn brother, Timmy Lee Statler; and Sherri’s parents, Cecil and Geraldine Brotherton.
Visitation is from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday, April 2, 2026, and from 10 a.m. to service time, Friday, April 3, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The Rev. Greg Schwab will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, April 3, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
In lieu of flowers, the family appreciates memorial contributions to Saxony Lutheran High School Tuition Assistance Fund, for his grandchildren, Bella, Carter, Mason, and Reid Statler.
