Reuben James Hunt

Reuben James Hunt, beloved husband, son and brother, died unexpectedly on September 24, 2026. Born on January 27, 1971 to parents Russell and Arla Hunt. Through his lifetime he lived many different places, including Okinawa, Colorado, and Texas. Known as Reuben to some, and as James to close family and friends, he served a mission in the Cleveland, Ohio mission.

An avid outdoorsman he enjoyed camping, fishing, and rock hunting especially. But the thing he loved most was his family. As the oldest child of 9 he took on a fatherly role with his younger siblings and loved every moment. In 2005 he was sealed to the love of his life in the Salt Lake City Temple, and in 2008 they welcomed their only child. James made many sacrifices for his family, most recently moving halfway across the country for his wife’s job and staying home to support his daughter over the last 5 years. But he never complained.

He leaves behind his heartbroken wife Jami (Granger) Hunt, and his daughter Ashlynn.

He is survived by his parents Russell and Arla (Jones) Hunt, sisters Kaylee (Adair), Amber (Mayo), Andrea (Jensen), Heidi, Lindsey (Carr) and Bethany (Weisenberger); and brothers Mark, Samuel, Neal, Brett (Granger), Alex (Granger), and Dave (Granger). He is also survived by more than 35 nieces and nephews, and countless cousins, aunts, and uncles.

We look forward to the glorious resurrection when our Savior returns again and our family can be together forever. This is a tough goodbye, but we know it is also a see you again soon. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 3 at 10:00am, with a viewing immediately prior from 8:00am - 9:45 am. James will be interred at Cape County Memorial Cemetery, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701
