Richard Lynn “Rich” Jones, 66, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, May 26, 2024, at his home.

He was born November 11, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Donald L. and Martha Steele Jones.  He and Kim McCullough were married December 21, 2002, in Jackson.

Rich was a graduate of Chillicothe (Illinois) High School.

Rich’s career with Procter and Gamble spanned 31 years, 15 of which he was the Emergency Response Leader.  He also operated the P & G Diaper Booth at the SEMO District Fair.  He retired in 2015.  He was a former volunteer firefighter and fire chief of the Millersville Fire Department.

His memberships included the Cape County Cowboy Church, Jackson Moose Lodge, and the Elks Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

Rich was an avid elk and deer hunter, trout fisherman, and enjoyed participating in BBQ contests.

Loving survivors include his wife of 21 years, Kim Jones of Jackson; three children, Joshua Jones of Jackson, Thomas (Carrie) Jones of Horseshoe Bend, Arkansas, and Amy (Brandon) Youngerman of Jackson; five grandchildren, Kassidy, Jossie, Riley, Jonathan, and Gracelyn; siblings, Mo Jones of Leopold, Missouri, Kenny (Sharon) Jones and Steve Jones of Jackson, Jo Pfeiffer of St. Louis, and Cheryl Myers of Cape Girardeau; and two sisters-in-law, Bonnie (late Gordon) Jones of Fort Worth, Texas, and Donna (late Alva) Gilliam of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gordon Jones; and Kim’s parents, Don and Sharon McCullough.

Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, May 29, 2024, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Jim Matthews will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 30, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas.

If considering a memorial contribution, the family suggests New Bethel Cemetery Fund, c/o New Bethel Baptist Church.
