Richard Alan Iverson

May 13, 1953 — July 18, 2022

Jackson, Missouri

Richard Alan Iverson, 69, of Jackson, Missouri, passed away July 18, 2022, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Rick was born May 13, 1953, in Normandy, Missouri, to Dr. Robert Whitney Iverson, Sr. and Jane Sebastian Iverson.  He was a 1971 graduate of Normandy High School.  In 1975, he received a Bachelor of Science degree from Southwest Missouri State University (now Missouri State University), where he was a four-year letterman and a conference champion in multiple swimming events.  In 1995, he was inducted into the MSU Sports Hall of Fame.

After working as an optician for several years, Rick entered school fundraising in 1983.  Although he received many sales awards over the course of his career, he was particularly proud of the Bob Rivet Award from QSP, which recognizes sales reps who help others.

Rick was a lifelong fan of the St. Louis Cardinals.  By offering Cardinals tickets as prizes for school fundraising, he became one of the largest group sales leaders for the Cardinals. On Rick’s last birthday, May 13, 2022, the Cardinals honored him in an on-field celebration for both his birthday and his retirement.

Rick enjoyed a 15-year relationship with Cindi McLain Crites. They were married June 28, 2022, at Busch Stadium.

Rick always invested in people and relationships, especially those with his family. He prioritized being available as a partner, husband, brother, friend, Dad, and Popi.  He leaves his family with wonderful memories of baseball games, fishing, road trips, and many other special times together.  He had a strong relationship with God.  He was first baptized with his children in 1984, and he recommitted his faith through immersion baptism on June 27, 2022.  In his final days, Rick was at peace and took comfort in God’s promise of eternal life.

Loving survivors include his wife, Cindi Iverson, of Jackson, Missouri; two children, Megan (Keith) Meier of Sunset Hills, Missouri, and Brian (Jessica) Iverson of Falls Church, Virginia; four grandchildren Norah, Drew, Janie, and Jeremy; two siblings, Terry (Sandi) Iverson of Waynesboro, Texas, and Ted (Jackie) Iverson of St. Louis, Missouri; his former spouse, Patricia Iverson, of Sunset Hills, Missouri; and many step-children and step-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Robert Whitney Iverson, Jr.

Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.    Mark Shelton will conduct a life celebration service at 1 p.m., Saturday, July 23, 2022, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
