Richard Loomis

Richard Wayne Loomis, 74, of Cape Girardeau passed away Wednesday, June 7, 2017 at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born January 28, 1943, in Detroit, Michigan, son of Burton P. and Peggy M. Cochran Loomis. He and Susan Elizabeth Weber were married February 10, 1968. She passed away January 23, 2015.

Richard graduated from Affton High School in 1962. He and Susan moved to Cape Girardeau in 1969. They owned and operated Candy Cane Cleaners in Cape Girardeau from December 1969 to May 2017. He was a member of St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau. Richard was also a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Knights of Columbus.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Amy (Jack) McDonald of Cape Girardeau; three sons, Scott Loomis of Jackson, Steven (Jill) Loomis of St. Louis, and Mike Loomis of Jackson; seven grandchildren, Max and Miles Loomis, Cody Peukert, T. J., Liya, Ashley, and Donny McDonald; and a great grandson, Jackson McDonald.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of 46 years, and a sister, Vickie Loomis.

Memorial mass will be Saturday, June 17, 2017, at 10:00 am, at St. Vincent De Paul Catholic Church in Cape Girardeau, with the Father Bobby Manso officiating.

Interment will follow in Lorimier Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude's Children Research Hospital.
