Richard Raymond Niedbalski, 86, of Jackson, passed away Monday, November 10, 2025, at the Lutheran Home Assisted Living in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 30, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri to Joseph Leo and Regina Rose (Ryterski) Niedbalski. On April 11, 1964, he married Sylvia Elfrink, who survives.

Richard was a graduate of McKinley High School in St. Louis. He served two years in the Air National Guard before beginning a career with the St. Louis City Fire Department, later joining the fire and rescue squad. In 1973, he moved his family to Jackson, where he worked for Procter & Gamble until retirement.

He was a longtime member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson and a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Bishop Timon Council. Richard was known for his love of gardening, trivia, and fixing just about anything.

Loving survivors include his wife of 61 years, Sylvia; five children, Joseph (Patrice) Niedbalski of Cape Girardeau, Maureen (Doug) Berning of St. Charles, Missouri, Mary (Thor) Hurst of Festus, Missouri, Eric (Amy) Niedbalski of Sunset Hills, and Melinda (Nils) Kohlmyer of Excelsior, Minnesota.; 12 grandchildren, Kenrick (Jackie) Niedbalski, Christina (Jeremie) Hubbard, Zachary, Ian, and Aaron Berning, McKenna (Andrew) Hirth, Bristol Lillie Hurst, Chandler and Chase Niedbalski, Anders, Henrik and Hanna Kohlmyer; two great grandchildren, Kayden Hurst and Savannah Niedbalski; and four siblings, Marvin (Janet) Niedbalski, Geraldine Lauterio, Arlene Miller and Elaine (Steven) Vollmer.

He was preceded in death by a stillborn daughter, Mary Ann, his parents, and two brothers Marion and Alvin Niedbalski.

A memorial visitation will be held Saturday, November 15, 2025, from 10 a.m. to noon at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, followed by the Rosary led by the Knights of Columbus, Bishop Timon Council.

A Funeral Mass will follow at 1 p.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Jackson, with Rev. Randy Tochtrop officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Immaculate Conception Catholic Capitol Campaign or the Jackson Senior Center Meals on Wheels program.
