Rick L. Hartle

Richard “Rick” L. Hartle, 71, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, September 1, 2026, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.

Born July 3, 1955, in St. Louis, he was the son of Leslie “Les” and Violet “Vi” Fellows Hartle. He was a graduate of Meadow Heights High School and Trendsetters Cosmetology School.

Rick’s life partner was James E. “Jim” Crites. Jim passed away October 18, 2019.

Rick was employed as a stylist at Venture in Cape Girardeau, Rhodes and Amerimart in Fruitland, and Chartwell’s Restaurants on the SEMO Campus.

Rick enjoyed watching television and dining at local restaurants, but above all, cherished spending time with family and friends.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Emily Hartle of Jackson; grandchildren, Caleb Hartle, Shawn Hamm, and Ronnie Rachelle Hamm; cousins, Sara Lee (Jerry) McCullough; Carol Ann (Bob) Schweigert; Doris Jean (late Jim) Blattel; Janet Sue (late Carl) Bollinger; Brenda Kay Yamnitz; Joyce Elaine (Terry) Clippard; Bud Proffer (Kenny Lawrence); Beverly Ann (Rick) Petitt; and best friend, Tim Kimbel and his son, Blake (Clarissa) Kimbel and Brandon (Jennifer) Kimbel, and their families.

Jim’s surviving family includes his sister, Deanna Whittaker and her children Kyler, Andrew, Adrian; and his cousin, Mike (Tracee) Houston.

Rick was preceded in death by a daughter, Sarah Hartle-Hamm; his parents, Les and Vi Hartle; and Jim’s parents, Carroll and Sylvia “Bea” Moore.

Visitation is from 9 to 11 a.m., Saturday, September 5, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., Saturday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to McCombs Funeral Home.
