Robert “Bob” Wesley Ervin, 72, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Monday, July 13, 2026, at his home.
He was born December 2, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Loyd Ray Ervin and Wilma Alleen (Shirrell) Ervin.
Bob graduated from Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau and attended one year of college at Southwest Baptist College in Bolivar, Missouri. In 1975, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was honorably discharged in 1979.
Following his military service, Bob worked for the American Red Cross before spending many years as a security guard at Southeast Missouri Hospital. During his illness, he developed close friendships with the nurses and staff of Crown Hospice and others who provided him with exceptional care, comfort, and kindness.
He is survived by his brother, Mike (Annette Ressel) Ervin, and his sister, LaDonna Rae (Harry “Sal”) Salazar, both of Cape Girardeau; one niece, Cara (Zack) Ervin-Brda; and two nephews, Todd (Amber) Fulton and Anthony (Tiffany Mesh-Miller) Salazar.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, July 20, 2026, at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Steve Vestor officiating. Burial will take place at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be made to Crown Hospice.
