Rodney Edward Truax, 79, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2016 at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Rodney was born Apr. 9, 1937 in Egan, LA the son of the late George E. and Beulah Marie (Scanlan) Truax. He and Lillie Sue Hancock were married June 6, 1966 in Memphis. She passed away Dec. 8, 2011.

Mr. Truax worked for many years with Missouri Barge Lines as a Captain. He enjoyed taking his grandchildren fishing when they were young. He was a Mason and a member of the Goldwing Road Riders Association.

Rodney is survived by two sons, Wendell Locklear of MS and Christopher Locklear of Cape, three daughters, Marcia Crone of Memphis, TN, Rhonda Pasley of Memphis, TN and Donnetta Slanner of Springfield, MO, two sisters, Ethel Jane Johnson of Harlegen, TX and Marie Truax-Smith of Nacogdoches, TX, 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, three brothers, Garrel, Larry and Elwin "Peanut" Truax, four sisters, Dorothy Hewlett, Joyce Wattigny, Marguarette Pousson, and Janette Young.

Visitation will be on Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson from 4 - 8 pm.

Funeral Services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, Sept. 30, 2016 at the Funeral Home with Rev. Vernon Long officiating. Entombment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum in Cape Girardeau.
