Ronald Franklin Stroder, 79, passed away at his home in Jackson on November 15, 2025, after suffering from health issues caused by a stroke in 2024.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin and Imogean (Crader) Stroder. His sister, Cathy Miller, survives.
Ron is a 1964 graduate of Woodland High School. He played basketball for the Woodland Cardinals. On June 12, 1965, Ronald married his high school sweetheart, Sharon Torbet. They celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June.
Ron worked many jobs during his life. His first job paid one cent for driving 10 nails at the pallet mill in Bollinger County. He worked several route jobs, most notably for Coca Cola. He spent many years working as an electrician for Fru Con Construction at P&G in Cape Girardeau.
Ron enjoyed taking his kids camping every weekend when they were young and spent hours floating the many rivers in Missouri. He also was a member of Super Troop 311 with his son and two grandsons, who all became Eagle Scouts in Troop 311.
He was most proud of his family, three kids, Ron (Laura) Stroder; Lisa Statler; and Angie (Joe) Brown; 10 grandchildren, Jace Walz, Weston Stroder, Erin (Caleb) Daughhetee, Jake (Kaitlyn) Colyott, Kyle Colyott, Courteney King, Erica (Dylan) Green, Andrew Fields, Natalie Fields, and Lauren Fields. He was affectionately known as "Grandpa-Great" to his seven great-grandchildren Ellie, Emma and Sam Daughhetee, Calvin and Harry Colyott, Penny and Thomas Green.
Visitation is from 11 a.m. to service time, Monday, November 17, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Chaplain Krag Runzi will conduct the funeral at 1 p.m., Monday, November 17, at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Crader Cemetery in Bollinger County.
