Roy Eugene "Jack" McLain, age 90, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, January 16, 2018 at Jackson Manor. He was born February 22, 1927 in Cape Girardeau County son of Roy Wilson and Laura G. Koeppel McLain. He and Celestia "Jewel" Liley were married July 3, 1948.
He was a member of Connection Point Church in Jackson. Roy thoroughly loved his 35 years of employment as a machinist with McDonnell Douglas in St Louis, Missouri and often tinkered with automobiles at his home. After his retirement, he and his wife, Jewel, enjoyed traveling throughout the United States in their recreational vehicle.
Loving survivors include his wife of 69 years, Jewel McLain of Jackson; 2 daughters, Cheryl (Bill) Hertfelder of Moro, Illinois and Cathy (Mark) Davis of O'Fallon, Missouri; 6 grandchildren, Michael (Christie) Lively, Andrea Anderson, Jennifer Hammock, Christine Wilkerson, Bradley (Meredith) Davis and Brett Davis; 7 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Norma Shipp of Cape Girardeau and Betty Melvin of Jackson; 4 brothers, Fred (Dolly) McLain and Jesse (Donna) McLain of Jackson, James McLain of Wood River, Illinois and John McLain of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Mary McLain; 2 brothers, Richard and Glenn McLain; 3 sisters, Ruth Burchyett, Marie Hampton and Erma McDowell.
Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Friday, January 19, 2018 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The funeral service will be 11 am, Saturday, January 20, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. Kevin Mann officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or Connection Point Church.
