Ruby Moll

Ruby I. Moll, 95, of Jackson, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, where she lived the past two years. She was a former resident of Chateau Girardeau.

She was born February 7, 1922, in Cape Girardeau County. She was one of nine children born to Reuel and Della Swan Morton.

She and Leonard L. Moll were married January 3, 1946, at the Cape Girardeau County Courthouse. In 1948, they built their home on Henderson Street in Jackson. A daughter, Debra, was born to their union. They had just celebrated their 29th wedding anniversary when Leonard passed away January 6, 1975, while receiving cancer treatments in Houston, Texas. Ruby remained in the home on Henderson Street until moving to Chateau Girardeau in 2012.

Ruby attended school in Fruitland. She worked at the former International Shoe Factory and the former Bruening Store, both in Jackson. She was a tallented seamstress and enjoyed making and altering clothes for her daughter and herself.

Ruby was confirmed at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson in 1946, shortly after she and Leonard were married. She formerly taught Sunday School and was faithful in supporting the activities of the school. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and enjoyed going to the Senior Center in Jackson.

Ruby was a devoted wife, mom, grandma, and homemaker. Her pride and joy were her two granddaughters, Kasie and Kerri.

Loving survivors include her daughter, Debra (Danny) Essner of Cape Girardeau; two granddaughters, Kasie L. Essner of Cape Girardeau and Kerri R. Essner of Jackson; and a sister, Vera Hager of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and seven siblings.

Visitation is Thursday, September 14, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m., and Friday, September 15, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. to service time, in Chapel B of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral will be Friday, September 15, 2017, at 10:30 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Lutheran Home Hospice.
