Scott K. Schaper

Scott K. Schaper, 67, of Springfield, MO, passed away Friday, February 25, 2022, at his residence. He was born April 30, 1954, to Randolph and Grace (Moore) Schaper in Cape Girardeau. Scott was a 1972 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. He enlisted in the United States Navy and was assigned to the Seabees and served one year in the Naval Reserve. He then enlisted in the United States Army and retired in 1992 at the rank of Staff Sergeant. He worked in construction and then, for many years, as an over the road truck driver. Scott is survived by his mother, Grace Schaper of Jackson; four siblings, Richard Schaper of Springfield, MO, Allen (Vicki) Schaper of Carl's Junction, MO, Patricia Wells of Peculiar, MO, and Kevin Schaper of Jackson; four nieces, Melissa (Andrew) Jordan, Janell (Dustin) Franks, Alicia (Cory) Hammonds, and Kyla Larry) Russell; and two nephews, Andrew Schaper and Kyle (Stacy) Schaper. He was preceded in death by his father, Randolph Schaper. Visitation will be from 10-11 am Wednesday, March 2, 2022 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 11 am at the funeral home followed by Military Honors. A private burial will follow in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
