Sheila Gross

Sheila Dawn Gross, 58, of Gordonville, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born August 2, 1959, in St. Louis, to Robert N. and Mary Lou Sinn King. She and Richard Gross were married May 9, 1981, in Cape Girardeau. Two sons were born to their union. Sheila was a 1977 graduate of Cape Central High School. She also earned her cosmetology license in Cape Girardeau. Sheila had a special flair for floral design and always looked forward to going to work at Country Mart in Jackson, where she was manager of the floral department. She previously worked at Proctor & Gamble, and was a former mayor of Gordonville. She was a longtime member of Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville where she helped with church dinners and made floral arrangements for the church. She especially enjoyed speding time with her family. Sheila was a devoted wife and mother, and always felt fortunate to have so many friends. Loving survivors include her husband of 36 years, Richard Gross of Gordonville; a son, Marcus Gross (Bridget Schremp) of Gordonville; a sister, Penny Wren of Cape Girardeau; mother-in-law, Alberta (the late Albert M.) Gross of Cape Girardeau; two sisters-in-law, Judy (Bob) Steck of Jackson, and Karen (David) Haupt of Cape Girardeau; two nieces, Ashley Steck of Jackson and Casey Parrott of Benton, Missouri; and a nephew, Jon Christopher Friedrich of Jackson. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas A. M. Gross; her parents; a brother, Rob King; a brother-in-law, David K. Gross; and her father-in-law, Albert M. Gross. A memorial visitation will be held Tuesday, October 31, 2017, from 10 a.m. to service time, at Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. The memorial service will be at 12 p.m., Tuesday, October 31, 2017, at the church, with the Rev. Jacob May officiating. Interment will follow at Christ Lutheran Cemetery in Gordonville.
