Sue Clippard

Sue Clippard, 71 of Oak Ridge passed away October 3, 2017.

She was born May 18, 1946, in Daisy, to Ova and Nellie Hobeck Stearns. She and John Clippard II were married November 30, 1962 in Millersville.

Sue attended Jackson High School. She later earned a cosmetology license and owned and operated Sue's Family Hair Care for 37 years. She was an active, lifelong member of New Salem United Methodist Church in Daisy, where she enjoyed helping with church suppers, bereavement meals, participated in UMW, and decorated the church at Christmas. She also volunteered for Southeast Hospice and Southeast Hospital. Sue liked to camp, but more than anything, she loved being with her grandchildren.

Loving survivors her husband of nearly 55 years, John Clippard II of Oak Ridge; two children, Vickie (Scott) Schnurbusch of Oak Ridge and John (Michelle) Clippard III of Jackson, four grandchildren, Drew Schnurbusch of Oak Ridge, and Megan, Claire, and Matthew Clippard of Jackson.

Also surviving are seven siblings, Carmen "Peg" (Charles) Newell, Earleen (the late Clarence) Langston, Robert "Bob" (Georgia) Stearns, Linda (Jerry) Morton, all of Jackson, Richard (Brenda) Stearns of Lonedell, Missouri, Mary (the late Bud) James of Patton, Patsy Wendel of Jackson; and a sister-in-law, Minnie (the late Virgil) Stearns of Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and two brothers, Virgil Stearns and Fred (Rosemary) Stearns.

Visitation is Friday, October 6, 2017, from 4 to 8 p.m., in Chapel A of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation in Jackson.

The funeral is Saturday, October 7, 2017, at 11 a.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Steven Koerner officiating. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Daisy.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to New Salem Church or Cemetery, or Southeast Hospice.
