Sue Platt, 85, of Pineville, Louisiana, formerly of Granbury, Texas, and Jackson, passed away Friday December 9, 2016, in Louisiana.
Sue was born September 25, 1931, in Inchon, Korea, the sixth of seven children, to Sin Ko Choi and Soon Eh Kang. Sue was a graduate of Sookmyung Women's University in Seoul, Korea. She and Larry Platt were married November 25, 1955, in Seoul, Korea.
Larry was an officer in the U.S. Navy. While he was in Officer's Supply School, Sue and the girls stayed in Jackson and Sue attended the former Jackson School of Hairdressing. While living in Portsmouth, Virginia, she worked at General Electric. The family resided in many places: Korea; South Carolina; Paris, France; California; and Virginia, returning to Korea in 1971, where their three daughters graduated from high school. Sue wrote and spoke fluent Japanese, and while living in Korea, worked as needed as an interpreter for the U.S. Military. Sue and Larry then lived several years in the Philippines, and most recently lived over 30 years in Granbury, Texas.
Sue was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and homemaker. She cherished her family above all else, and always thought of others before herself. She enjoyed fishing, golfing, and playing bridge.
To cherish her memory, Sue leaves her husband of 61 years, Larry of Pineville, formely of Granbury, Texas; three daughters, Laura DiCillis of Irmo, South Carolina, Gina (Gary) Litzler of Pineville; Donna (Jon) Hoff of Canon City, Colorado; a sister, Jin Youn Choi of Seoul, Korea; seven grandchildren, Brian, Denise, Jennifer, Jessica, Ryan, Lacey, and Sara; 17 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Words cannot describe how much she will be missed.
She was preceded in death by five siblings; her parents; two brothers-in-law, Harold (Colleen) Platt and Gerald Platt; and his former wife, June Platt-Engel.
Visitation will be Tuesday, December 13, 2016, from noon to service time, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral is Tuesday, December 13, 2016, at 2 p.m., at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sam Roethemeyer officiating.
Burial will follow at Russell Height Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer's Association.
