Terry Gohn

Terry Gohn, age 59, of Jackson went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Saturday, March 26, 2016 after a courageous two year battle with cancer.

He was born October 16, 1956 in Cape Girardeau the son of Lloyd and Marie Dickerson Gohn. He and Jaci McDowell were married September 18, 1976. They were blessed with two sons, Adam and his wife Shvetha; and Eli all of Cape Girardeau. They were the joy of his life.

Terry had one brother Mike (Dawn) Gohn of Bridgeton, Missouri; two sisters-in-law, Judy Bryant and Jan Nicholson of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Larry (Shirley) Bock of Gordonville; and many dearly loved nieces and nephews.

Terry was a graduate of Jackson Sr. High School. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Crossroads Fellowship Church in Jackson. Throughout his time with these churches, Terry served in various capacities and positions, including the leadership team, small group leader and host, and Sunday school teacher. Also at Cross Roads church he was known as "the Coffee Man".

He had a 30 year career in the insurance business working many years with Miller Mutual Insurance Company and later at AAA Insurance Company in Cape Girardeau. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, camping, trout fishing, playing cards, and watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball.

He was preceded in death by his father; a sister-in-law, Jane Bock; and a brother-in-law, O. W. Bryant.

Visitation will be Monday, March 28, 2016, from 4 to 8 p.m., at First Baptist Church in Jackson.

The funeral will be Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at 10 a.m., at the church with Rev. Lucas Clabough, Dr. Brian Anderson, and Rev. Joe Rowley officiating. Burial will follow at New Bethel Cemetery near Pocahontas, Missouri.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Missouri Baptist Children's Home, First Baptist Church, Cross Roads Fellowship Church, or the Missouri Department of Conservation.
