Theadore M. Yancey, 73, of Fredericktown, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Hubble Creek in Jackson. He had resided at Hubble Creek since February 2025.

Theadore was born September 16, 1952, in Ironton, Missouri, to James M. and Mary E. King Yancey. He was a 1969 graduate of Fredericktown High School. During the Vietnam War, Theadore honorably served in the U.S. Navy from October 27, 1969, to May 24, 1974, and again from March 3, 1975, to March 3, 1977.

Theadore was a member of the Church of Christ in Fredericktown, Missouri. He worked many years as a guard at the Corrections Center in Farmington, Missouri, and often worked as a handy man on the side. He loved the outdoors and especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hiking with his brother, Tim.

To cherish his memory, he leaves five children, Amanda (Rev. Alex) Niswonger of Cape Girardeau; Tim (Christy) Yancey of Jackson; Theo (Kelsey) Yancey of Wood River, Illinois; Ryan Yancey and fiancé Shirley Thomas of Barnhart, Missouri; Will Yancey of Illinois; grandchildren: Hailey, Katie, Kayden, Everlyee, Liam, Wyatt, Violet, Vayda; a sister, Barbara Kennedy of Fredericktown; life partner, Goldie Crites of Fredericktown; Goldie’s children, Kevin and Dina; her granddaughter, Jenny; and great-grandchildren, Leena and Quinton.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Norma Jean Montgomery; William Yancey; Tim Yancey, Rosie Snell, and Monica Turner.

To celebrate his life, friends are invited to a committal service led by Rev. Alex Niswonger, at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, June 11, 2026, at Jefferson Barracks National Veterans Cemetery in St. Louis. Those attending are encouraged to arrive around 11:15 a.m. Military honors will follow the ceremony.
