Thomas Casey Brewer

April 9, 1943 — June 6, 2022

Friedheim, Missouri

On June 6, 2022, Tom took the hand of Jesus and crossed the bridge to the promised land. Tom was born on April 9, 1943 in Overland, Missouri, the son of Correll (Sexton) and August Brewer. He accepted Christ as his savior at 17. He graduated from high school in Wentzville, Missouri, in 1962. He married his school sweetheart Joyce Tuschhoff, daughter of Leona (Lang) and Julian Tuschhoff that same year. They were blessed with four children.

When Tom turned 21, he entered the field of law enforcement in St. Charles County, Missouri. Several years later he found employment with Monsanto Electronics Division which let him better use his skills. When the electronics division of Monsanto was sold he stayed on with MEMC Electronics. He worked in many capacities there, but eventually became a valued member of the HVAC staff, servicing all the industrial heating and cooling units of the crystal pulling plant. There he had a chance to use electrical and mechanical skills and became an early computer programmer as most of the equipment became computerized.

T om became active with Boy Scouts and guided many young men along the path to adulthood. Upon his retirement in 2005, he and Joyce retired to the Tuschhoff farm in the Friedheim area, which they purchased. A farm is nothing without animals, so they began raising South Africa Boer goats. Tom said living on the farm, becoming part of that community and raising his goats were some of the happiest experiences he ever had.

Joyce became a Master Gardener and Tom decided to take the class and become one too. Raising different varieties of tomatoes became a passion. And he loved to share "how to do it" information. He was an active member of New Salem United Methodist Church at Daisy, MO. Through the years Tom had always been interested in history and the Native Americans, information he was always eager to share. In June 2021 Tom was found to have glioblastoma brain cancer. Surgery, radiation, and chemo were not able to stop the cancer and in the past few weeks his health quickly declined. Happily, he was able to transition at home with help from Crown Hospice.

He is survived by Joyce, his wife of 60 years and his children Angela (Ted) Petry, Tamara (Terry) Pieper, Stephen (Stacey) Brewer and David (Michelle) Brewer. He also leaves his grandchildren: Nick Petry, Jason Pieper, Jim Pieper, Joe Pieper, Adrian Brewer, Michael Brewer, Zachary Brewer, Salene House, Samantha Bock, Hailey Hickam, Jacob Brewer and Nathan Brewer; ten great-grandchildren, and his beloved dogs, Snickerdoodle and Duke.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Lila and Larry Witte, and his sister-in-law, Joan (Jerry) Caruthers. The family thanks the many that surrounded them with prayers this past year.

The family will celebrate Tom's life with a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, June 11, 2022, at New Salem United Methodist Church in Daisy, Missouri. The Rev. Kathleen Myers will conduct a memorial service at 4 p.m., Saturday, at the church.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Crown Hospice.
