Thomas Henry Strickland, 81, of Jackson passed away Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born November 5, 1943, in Cape Girardeau, son of Jack and Venita Masterson Strickland Sr. He and Judy Kinsey were married July 29, 1967, in Cape Girardeau.
Thomas was a 1966 graduate of the University of Missouri at Rolla/Missouri School of Mines with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering.
He was an active long-time member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge and a member of the Gideons International.
Thomas founded Strickland Engineering in 1979. He was an active member of the Jackson Chamber of Commerce and Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization.
In 2020 Thomas was awarded the R.A Fullenwider Award by the Jackson Chamber of Commerce.
His hobbies included farming and raising cattle, as well as traveling, bird watching and most of all, spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Thomas was a kind and gentle man with a deep faith and a servant heart.
Loving survivors include his wife of 57 years, Judy Strickland; two sons, Mark (Lori) Strickland of Cape Girardeau and Brian (Cathy) Strickland of Jackson; a daughter, Resa (Wayne) Armstrong of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, John (Molly) Strickland and Paul (Marti) Strickland; and a sister-in-law, Shelby Strickland, all of Jackson; grandchildren, Caleb (Kyndal) Strickland, and great-grandson, Henry of Cape Girardeau; Levi (Madison) Strickland of Fort Smith, Arkansas; Lydia Strickland of Cape Girardeau; Abby Strickland of Columbia; Conner, Carter, Nathan and Nolan Strickland of Jackson; Noah, Josiah, Hope, Hallie and Micah Armstrong of Cape Girardeau.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Venita and a brother, William E. “Jack” Strickland Jr.
The visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and Saturday, April 5, 2025, from 10 a.m. to service time at the First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge.
The Rev. Jon Sedgwick will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m., on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at the First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge.
Interment will follow service at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
The family suggests that contributions be made to First Baptist Church of Oak Ridge, Kenny Rogers Children Center, The Gideons International, Prodigy Leadership Academy or Uptown Jackson Revitalization Organization.
