Truman Dale Petzoldt

Truman D. Petzoldt, 80, of Cape Girardeau formerly of Oak Ridge passed away Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born on September 21, 1944, in Cape Girardeau, son of Rito Henry and Nelta Clara Ludwig Petzoldt.

His first marriage was to JoAnn Sauerbrunn on October 1, 1966, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church. They had two sons: Roger and Gary Petzoldt. They had been married 39 years when JoAnn passed away on March 5, 2006. On January 1, 2007, he married Debora Jones in Fruitland.

Truman was a 1962 graduate of Oak Ridge High School and a member of St. Johns United Church of Christ in Fruitland.

Truman worked at Shawneetown Feed & Seed, Proctor and Gamble, and later drove a bus for Jackson School District. He was a skilled musician, playing guitar, banjo, his father's violin, harmonica, trumpet, and piano. He enjoyed league bowling for many years at the Cape and Jackson, golf, and working at the Jaycee Course in Cape.

Loving survivors include his wife of 18 years, Debora Petzoldt; two sons, Roger (Patti) Petzoldt and Gary (Rhonda) Petzoldt; grandchildren, Morgan and Codie; great-grandchildren, Atticus and Zayden; sister-in-law, Barbara (late Willard) Petzoldt; Debora's mother, Joan C. Jones and Debora's brothers, Jerry and Frank Jones; also, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, JoAnn; his parents; a brother, Willard Petzoldt; and Debora's brother, Fred Jones.

Visitation is from 11 a.m. to service time on Monday, June 23, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The Rev. Sam Roethemeyer will conduct the funeral service at 1 p.m., on Monday, June 23, at the funeral home. Interment will follow at St. Johns Cemetery in Fruitland.

The family suggests that contributions be made to St. John's United Church of Christ.
