Valerie Margaret Marler

Valerie Margaret Marler, age 81, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.

She was born October 19, 1934, in Bonne Terre, Missouri, daughter of Percy Leon and Margaret Sarah McDaniel Faenger. She and Farrell Wayne Marler were married May 3, 1957 in Bonne Terre. He passed away April 14, 1994.

Valerie was a 1952 graduate of Bonne Terre High School, and attained an associate's degree from Flat River (Missouri) Jr. College. She worked at Southeast Hospital for 22 years as a nurse's aide, a surgical technician, in pre-op, and in recovery. Valerie was a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson, and the Women's Circle.

Loving survivors include a son, Daniel Marler of Minot, North Dakota; three daughters, Celeste (David) Wunderlich of Jackson, Alice (Eric) Kasten of Altenburg, Missouri, and Sara (Alan) Grebing of Frohna, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Sophie Wunderlich, Valerie Marler, Matthew Marler, Aaron Grebing, Jesse Grebing, Benjamin Grebing, Khloe Kasten; two great-grandchildren, Taylor and Teri Alred; a sister, Jennifer Faenger of St. Louis; and a sister-in-law, Susan (the late Joseph) Faenger.

In addition to her husband, Farrell, she was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Kay VanRiper, two brothers, Jon and Joseph Faenger, and a grandson, Lee Marler.

The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2016 in chapel A of McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jimmie Corbin officiating.

Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests that contributions be made to New McKendree United Methodist Church.
