Vera D. (Morton) Hager

Vera D. Hager, 97, of Jackson, passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born June 30, 1926, in Cape Girardeau County, to Reuel H. and Nora Dell Swan Morton. She and Kenneth D. Hager were married August 1, 1947, in Jackson. They had been married 50 years when Kenneth passed away December 15, 1997.

Vera was a longtime member of New McKendree United Methodist Church, and it's United Methodist Women Group, also serving many years as the church financial secretary.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Martha Jo (the late Elliott) DeGraff of Cape Girardeau and Beth Ann Hager of Jackson; and a grandson, John Hager (Bryan Suntrup) of Cape Girardeau.

All arrangements are private at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Vera will later be laid to rest next to Kenneth at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
