Vernell M. (Propst) Poinsett

Vernell M. Poinsett, 89, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tues. Jan. 25, 2022 at the Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Mar. 18, 1932 in Dutchtown, MO. to the late Marion and Cora Hager Propst. Vernell and Calvin Poinsett were married July 15, 1970 in Lake Co. TN. He preceded her on June 7, 2010. Vernell attended Dutchtown Grade School and graduated from Delta High School. She worked for Thorngate in Chaffee for 28 years where she was a "Glider for Zippers". Vernell and Calvin loved to travel and made multiple trips each year to Branson. She was a member of Cape First Church in Cape Girardeau. She is survived by three nieces, Sharon (Phil) Wellin of Gordonville, Carol (Marty) Steimle of New Hamburg and Cindy (Gary) Lynn of Benton, she is also survived by two Nephews, Billy (Prudy) Propst of Gordonville and Stanley Propst of Dutchtown, a sister-in-law Ruby Propst of Cape Girardeau along with many great nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and Husband Calvin, she was preceded by two brothers, Gerald Propst and Bill M. Propst. Visitation will be at McCombs Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau on Monday from 11 am to service time The funeral service will take place at 1 pm at the funeral home with Rev. Phil Wellin officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights cemetery in Jackson immediately after the service.
