Vernell (Fellows) Seabaugh

Jackson, Missouri

Ima Vernell Seabaugh, 91, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, November 3, 2022, at the Jackson Manor Nursing Home, where she resided since September.  She was previously a five-year resident of the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Vernell was born November 16, 1930, in Lixville, Missouri, to Harvey Hobert and Rada Statler Fellows.  She was a 1948 graduate of Patton High School.  She and Paul “Bud” Edward Seabaugh were married June 24, 1950, at the United Methodist Church in Sedgewickville.  Three children were born to their union, Deborah Kay, Danny Ray, and Vicki Diane.  Vernell and Bud had been married 46 years when Paul passed away March 9, 1996.

After high school, Vernell worked at the telephone company, hosiery mill, Western Auto, and shared food samples with shoppers at local grocery stores.  She enjoyed square dancing, playing cards with friends, traveling, spending time with grandchildren, and playing Bingo.

She was a lifelong, active member of Sedgewickville United Methodist Church.

Loving survivors include two daughters, Deborah Kay Wissmann of Jackson, and Vicki Diane (Ben) Proffer of Millersville, Missouri; three grandchildren, Chris (Lauren) Wissmann of Cape Girardeau, Kimberly Ann Proffer of Cape Girardeau, and Christy (Tim) Yancey of Jackson; great-grandchildren, Trey Proffer of Cape Girardeau, Lynsey Proffer of St. Louis, Katie Yancey of Whitewater, Missouri, Hailey Yancey of Cape Girardeau, and Lukas Wayne Wissmann of Cape Girardeau.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a stillborn son, Danny Ray Seabaugh, and a grandson, Joshua Proffer.

Visitation is from 10 a.m. to noon, Thursday, November 10, 2022, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev. Alex Niswonger will conduct the funeral service at noon, Thursday, November 10, 2022, at the funeral home.  Interment will follow at Sedgewickville Lutheran Cemetery.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Sedgewickville Methodist Church or Sedgewickville Lutheran Cemetery.
