Virginia Mae (Andrews) Walter

Virginia Mae Walter, age 90, of Jackson passed away Thursday, September 26, 2019 at her home.

She was born January 21, 1929, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Frank and Helen Franck Andrews. She and Otto William “Pete” Walter were married January 26, 1946 in Illmo, Missouri. He passed away April 22, 1982.

Virginia was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit and attended Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville. She worked as a cook in the Jackson Junior High School Cafeteria for 20 years. She worked ten years at Southeast Hospital in the housekeeping department, and volunteered at the Jackson Senior Center for 25 years. Some of Virginia’s favorite activities were crocheting, going on family vacations, and making her daily trips to the Jackson Senior Center where she would oftentimes quilt with the other ladies.

Loving survivors include four children, Helen (the late James) Manning of Jackson, Earl (Joan) Walter of Fruitland, Ruth (Jim) Timberlake of Gordonville, and Edna (Larry Don) Yarbro of Jackson; nine grandchildren, James Manning, Michael Manning, Beth (Tony) Mott, Jeff (Denae) Walter, Amanda J. Walter, Adam (Amanda S.) Walter, Phillip Yarbro, Ashley (Russell Beussink) Yarbro, and Brian (Jennifer Schnurbusch) Timberlake; nine great-grandchildren, Austin and Aiden Walter, Bailey and Weston Walter, Dean and Charlotte Mott, Wyatt Timberlake, Melissa and Caitlin Manning; a brother, Ray (Camille) Andrews of Panama City Beach, Florida; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and her stepmother, Catherine Andrews; a sister, Georgia (Ben) Wallace; a brother, Charles (Eva) Andrews; and a dear friend, Alfred Walter.

The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2019 and from noon until service time on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jacob May officiating.

Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to Saint Francis Hospice, Christ Lutheran Church in Gordonville, or Jackson Senior Center
