Virginia Welker

Virginia Welker departed this life to her eternal home on October 26, 2022.

She was born on April 24, 1943, to Cline O. Welker and Fredia (Smith) Welker of Millersville, Missouri. She graduated from Jackson Senior High School in 1962. and went on to marry her sweetheart Richard Welker on December 15, 1963.

Virginia resided in Millersville, Missouri for over 40 years, not far from her family home.

Virginia attended Calvary United Pentecostal Church since it’s beginning in the 1950’s. She remained a prominent member and served as Ladies’ Auxiliary President for more than 40 years. In her younger years she would escort the young people to youth camps. She was a member of the church choir and a Sunday School teacher.

Virginia was a member of the American Legion Post #158 Ladies’ Auxiliary, serving the last several years as president until her death.

Virginia worked at the Hosiery Mill, Lee Rowan (now Rubbermaid) and retired in 2005 with 30 years of employment. She then became a substitute cook for Jackson School district.

Virginia was loved by many and will be greatly missed by her friends and family.

To cherish her memory, Virginia leaves her husband of nearly 59 years, Richard Welker of Millersville; her daughter Michelle Welker (Jeff Hilton) of Sedgewickville, Missouri; a brother, Paul (Sherry) Welker of Millersville; two grandsons, Marcus and Da’on Bolden; a sister-in-law, Betty Baudendistel; a brother-in-law, John F. Drum, Jr.; as well as 15 nieces and nephews.

Virginia was preceded in death by her father, Cline O. Welker; her mother, Fredia Cornell; her stepfather, Dale Cornell; two siblings, Jerry Welker and Opal Drum; a brother-in-law, Edwin Baudendistel; a sister-in-law, Shirley Garst; and a nephew, David Baudendistel.

Visitation is from 3 to 7 p.m., Sunday, October 30, 2022, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson, and from 9:30 a.m. to service time, Monday, October 31, 2022, at Calvary United Pentecostal Church in Jackson.

The Rev. Nathan Brown and Bishop Ronnie Brown will conduct the funeral service at 10:30 a.m., Monday, October 31, 2022, at the church.  Interment will follow at Old Salem Cemetery near Millersville.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Calvary United Pentecostal Church.
