Wanda Lee Nelson, 83, of Jackson passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025, at Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born on January 21, 1942, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of Charles Roscoe and Clola Louise Dewrock Nelson.
Wanda was a graduate of Cape Central High School. She was a former member of First Baptist Church in Delta and a current member at First Baptist Church in Scott City, where she faithfully attended and supported the ministries, especially the bus ministry that was dear to her heart. She worked as a seamstress at Columbia Sportswear and also babysat, as she had a special love for children.
Loving survivors include her sister, Betty (Donnie) Mayberry of Jackson; a sister-in-law, Martha Nelson of Cape Girardeau; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two siblings, Charlotte Wildman and Bob Nelson; two half siblings, Bill Kramer and George Nelson.
The visitation will be from 10 am until service time on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 11 am on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at the funeral home with the Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating.
Interment will follow at Caney Fork Baptist Cemetery in Oak Ridge.
The family suggests that contributions be made to First Baptist Church Scott City.
