Wayne "Dick" Seabaugh

January 1, 1941 — January 27, 2022

Jackson, Missouri

Wayne “Dick” Seabaugh, 81, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022, at Chateau Girardeau in Cape Girardeau.

Born January 1, 1941, in Scopus, Missouri, Dick was the fourth of ten sons born to Truman and I.V.D. Crites Seabaugh.  Dick and Lois Devore were married April 16, 1960, in the home of Pastor Floyd Grindstaff, and they then moved to Jackson. Lois and Dick shared New Year’s Day birthdays. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.

He attended school in Scopus to 8th grade, and later while working two jobs and raising two little girls, he earned his GED. He was a self-taught Mr. Fix-It and could fix or build anything. He worked 41 years for Spartech Plastics in Cape Girardeau and after several years of working the night shift, he would work another full day for Charlie Meier and Sons at their Angus farm to support his young family.

Dick was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing, coaching girls’ softball.  He was also a leader for the Millersville 4-H Club many years while his girls were members, helping them raise steers for the local fairs.

In his younger years, he raised Treeing Walker Coonhounds and won many championships with his beloved dogs. He was a member of the Daisy Coon Club and the Cape County Coon Hunters Club.

Dick was also active in his community. A need arose for a volunteer fire department to serve the Millersville area. He was a charter member of the Millersville fire department and helped in the fundraising and building to establish what is now the Millersville Rural Fire Protection District.

Just before retirement, Dick started to ride horses with the Jackson Trail Riders. It became his passion in retirement.  He really loved loading up his horses and heading out to a ride to several church suppers and local eateries with his trail riding friends. After his stroke in 2014, he did physical therapy at Mississippi Valley Therapeutic Horsemanship. His many friends would help lift him up on his horse so that he could still enjoy his passion of riding.

Most of all Dick loved his family. He would do anything to help his girls. He was blessed with four grandsons that he taught to hunt, fish, ride horses, fix small engines and build almost anything. His face lit up anytime they were near him. He was also a prominent father figure in the life of his beloved niece, Chrissi Glastetter, and thought of her as one of his own.

Dick leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Lois Seabaugh of Jackson; two daughters, Donna (John) Telle of Uniontown, Ann (Wes) Kinsey of Cape Girardeau; four grandsons, Andrew (Rachael)Telle of Jackson, Blake (Klaire)Telle of Uniontown, Nathaniel (Ariel) Kinsey of Midlothian, Virginia, Truman Kinsey of Columbia, Missouri and one great-grandson, Kalvin Telle; another great-grandson expected in May; a niece Chrissi Glastetter of St. Louis, Missouri; five  brothers Gale, Lindell, Milford, Ron and Don Seabaugh; and many nieces and nephews.

Dick was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers, Rex, Jerry, Eugene and Dale Seabaugh.
