Alan Wayne Jones, 68, of Jackson, passed away December 25, 2022, at his home. He was born September 16, 1954, in Cape Girardeau, son of Alan Kenneth "Rack" and Irene Wunderlich Jones. Wayne was a 1972 graduate of Jackson High School. During high school he worked for Straightway Farm Service. After graduation he began his 30-year career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 2002. Upon retirement Wayne was granted the much-earned time to enjoy his passion and talents for fishing, hunting, golfing, and sitting on the front porch visiting with his friends. He was a member of Jackson Elks for 38 years and a former member of Bass Busters. He enjoyed donut day at Bebo's on Fridays. Wayne had a huge heart with "never met a stranger" outgoing personality, who was loved by all that had the opportunity to meet and know him. He will be missed by many. Loving survivors include four sisters, Carol (Jerry) Curtis of Perryville, Loeta (the late Robert) Hahs of Oak Ridge, Leila Jones of Boaz, Alabama, and Laura (Korky) Bryant of Chaffee, his long-time companion and best friend, Linda Cook of Jackson. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews, and many loyal and faithful friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law. Visitation will be Friday, December 30, from 9 am until service time McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service will follow at 11 am, at the funeral home, with the Pastor Elijah Allen officiating. Interment will follow in New Salem Cemetery near Daisy. Memorials may take the form of contributions to Southeast Missouri Pets formerly Humane Society of Southeast Missouri, 2536 Boutin Drive, Cape Girardeau, Missouri 63701.
