Weldon David Hilpert, age 79, of Jackson, passed away Saturday, March 7, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born September 29, 1940, in Cape Girardeau, to Albert and Myrtle nee Meyer Hilpert.   He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.  He and Joann Schwab were married July 2, 1966.

Weldon had attended Trinity Lutheran School and was a 1958 graduate of Cape Central High School. He also earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Southeast Missouri State University.  He worked 39 years for Missouri Utilities Company, Union Electric and Ameren, retiring in May 2000.

The Hilperts were active members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau, where Weldon served in many different capacities.  He was a charter member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

After retiring he completed the Hilpert family tree.  Recently, he was active with the Cape Girardeau County Historical Society and the History Center.   Being a lifetime Dodger fan provided many “discussions” with his friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Alan Hilpert; and an infant brother.

A memorial visitation will be from 9-11 a.m., Saturday, March 14, 2020, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.  The Rev. Weston Wildauer will officiate a memorial service at 11 a.m., Saturday, at the church.
