Wilbert E. "Bill" Engel

Wilbert E. “Bill” Engel , age 91, of Jackson passed away Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Villages of St. Peters Parkway in St. Peters, Missouri.

He was born July 21, 1927, in St. Charles, son of Edwin H. and Linda Mary Catherine Boenker Engel.

Bill graduated from St. Charles High School and served in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946 during World War II and then the Army National Guard in St. Charles.  He worked for Florsheim Shoe Company for many years as a general superintendent both stateside and in foreign countries.  As a member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson, he enjoyed singing in the church choir.

Survivors include two brothers, Orval (Shirley) Engel of the State of California and Harlan (Judy) Engel of St. Charles; a granddaughter, Jena (James) Spinner of Collinsville, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Madeline and Evan Spinner and a number of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son, Richard Wayne Engel and a daughter, Judith Ann Engel Cody.
