William D. “Dub” Stroder, 88, of Whitewater passed away Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
He was born March 5, 1931, in Crump, son of Elmer “Dale” and Grace “Alline” Hosea Stroder. He and Glenda Ruth Craft were married Dec. 15, 1951, in Piggott, Arkansas. She passed away Dec. 20, 1999.
Dub attended Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Crump. After his induction into the United States Army on March 6, 1953, he served during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on March 4, 1955. He was a member of Altenthal-Joernes American Legion Post 158 in Jackson, and the Jackson Trailriders. Dub enjoyed riding horses and gardening of all kinds.
Loving survivors include a daughter, Melinda (Jeff) Trovillion of Whitewater; a granddaughter, Aleshia (Michael) Weber of Jackson; three great-grandchildren, Caleb Weber, Dakota Weber and Jase Mungle, all of Jackson; and three brothers, Sheb (Annie) Stroder of Sedgewickville, Missouri, Harold (Lina) Stroder of Jackson and Mac Stroder of St. Libory, Illinois.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2020 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Joe Allen officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson, with full military honors.
The family suggests that contributions be made to Bethlehem General Baptist Church in Crump.
