William S. “Bill” Piercey Sr. (also known as Bob Holiday), age 77, of Cape Girardeau, passed away Monday, May 4, 2026, at his home.
Bill was born on July 14, 1948, to Bette Simon and was raised by his mother and his adoptive father, Jack Piercey. He married Ann Phillips on May 7, 1972.
A graduate of Jackson High School in Tennessee, Bill attended Memphis State University. His career began as a disc jockey for KLID radio in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, and later at KGMO in Cape Girardeau, where he was known on air as “Bob Holiday.” Bill also worked as a car salesman at Ford Groves and Sikeston Motors. He owned and operated the former Woodstock 2000, a music store in Cape Girardeau.
Bill, or “Bob” as he was mostly known by family and friends, was an avid collector of sports memorabilia and a passionate St. Louis Cardinals fan. Above all, he cherished spending time with his grandchildren and was proud to be the best grandpa he could be.
He is survived by his loving children, Jacky (Derek Underwood) Piercey of Cape Girardeau, and Billy (Angie) Piercey of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania; five grandchildren, Skyler Hanks, Leah Rhodes, Zade Underwood, Madalyn Lunday, and Karen Piercey; a great-granddaughter, Mary Lunday; and four siblings, Karen Wood, Jack Piercey, Rhonda Frank, and Terri Derryberry.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Robert Piercey.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with burial in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
