Wilma Summers

Wilma Summers, age 93, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, December 27, 2017 at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 9, 1924 in Millersville, daughter of Cornelius and Ellen Welker Hahn. She and Lloyd Russell Summers were married April 21, 1944 in Osceola, Arkansas. He passed away June 15, 2011.

Wilma was a 1943 graduate of Jackson High School. She and Lloyd lived in Chaffee for 12 years before moving to Jackson. She worked at the Jackson Hosiery Mill for 19 years and then Lenco for 11 years, retiring in 1986. She was a 56 year member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson where she was a member of the couples fellowship, Sunday school class, United Methodist Women's Organization and Mary and Martha Circle. Wilma was also a volunteer at Southeast Hospital for many years.

Loving survivors include a daughter, Marilyn (Glenn) Fronabarger of Oak Ridge; two grandchildren, Darin (Jessica) Fronabarger and Kelly (Jonathan) Tucker of Oak Ridge; a great-grandson, Preston Fronabarger and a great-granddaughter, Alyss Tucker and a brother, Johnny (Joan) Hahn of Jackson.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Lela Hutson and Virginia Sides.

The visitation will be from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018 at the funeral home with the Revs. Jimmie Corbin and David Israel officiating.

Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

The family suggests that contributions be made to New McKendree United Methodist Church South Campus Building Fund.
