Wilma Yamnitz-Crites

Wilma L. Barks Yamnitz Crites, age 84, of Jackson passed away Saturday, August 11, 2018 at the Arbors Assisted Living Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born October 7, 1933 in Perryville, MO the daughter of Pirl and Opal Fadler Barks. She married Loy O.  "Junior" Yamnitz on February 11, 1950 at Crossroads United Methodist Church near Yount, Missouri. They had been married 50 years when “Junior” passed away April 29, 2000. Wilma married Kelly Crites May 2, 2002.

She was a former member of New McKendree United Methodist and its WMU, the First General Baptist Church in Jackson and was currently a member of St. John’s United Church of Christ near Fruitland.

Wilma was office manager of Yamnitz Auto Body in Jackson, which she co-owned with her husband “Junior”. She was a sales representative for Tupperware and Shaklee, and worked at Fashion Fabrics and Jackson Manor Nursing Home. She was a former member and President of Happy Homemakers Club. She liked to keep busy and had many interests, including gardening, antiquing, reading, ceramics, painting, quilting, and embroidery. She especially enjoyed caring for her great-grandchildren, traveling, and being outdoors.

Survivors include her husband Kelly of Jackson; four children, Bonnie (Marty) Dubs of Elizabeth City, NC, Bambi (Kenny) Fowler, Craig (Susan) Yamnitz, and Ryan Yamnitz all of Jackson; thirteen grandchildren, Rachelle (Dean) Weber, Becki (Rowe) Arends, Tiffani (Adam) Justice, Rene Rhodes, Tabi (James) Daub, Heidi Langston, Jessica (Ted) Walters, Brian Yamnitz, Courtney (Justin) Rollet, Hannah (Mac) Robinson, Brandon Yamnitz, Hailey (Caleb) Webb, and Devin Yamnitz; 24 great grandchildren;

Also surviving are two sisters, Margie Crawford of Jackson, Betty (Gerry) Manderscheid of Tucson, Arizona; one brother, Melvin “Bud” (Jeanny) Barks; and a sister-in-law, Margaret (the late Lindel) Barks of Cape Girardeau.

In addition to her husband of fifty years, Loy “Junior” she was preceded in death by a son, Richard Yamnitz; a great grandson, Nolan Weber; three brothers, Lindel F. and Harold Dean Barks, and Pervis (Onita) Barks; a brother-in-law, Elbert Crawford; and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Rose Yamnitz.

Friends may call from 4-7 pm, Tuesday, August 14th, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. Funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 15th, at the funeral home with Rev. Anthony Stewart and Dr. Rodney Pensel officiating. Burial will follow in Yount Cemetery near Patton.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Alzheimer’s Association or to Yount Cemetery.
