Alan Ervin Obituary

Alan Wayne Ervin, 70, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2024, at his residence.

He was born September 16, 1953, in Cape Girardeau, to Roscoe and Roberta Ripetoo Ervin. He married Resa Lynn Bennett on April 5, 1970. She preceded him in death on February 13, 2023. Alan and Resa lived a full life of travel due to his 24 years of service in the USAF which took them to AZ, Italy, TX, OK, back to TX, then Holland, FL, and full circle back to Cape Girardeau in 1998.

Alan was a graduate of Cape Central High School. In 1973, he entered the US Air Force. He Honorably served 24 years and retired at the rank Master Sgt. He worked at Procter and Gamble for 15 years, retiring in 2014.

Alan was a member of Bethany Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau, Jackson Elks Lodge, and SEMO Seniors Golf Group. He enjoyed golf, family, friends, and St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs.

Alan is survived by his two daughters, Michelle Edgell of Jackson, and Rebecca Holter of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren Jacob Holter (Kaylee Timms) of Bonne Terre, MO, and Hayden Edgell of Jackson; two sisters Susan (Phil) Schmidt of Chesterfield, Sharon (Kenny) Fornkohl of Cape Girardeau.

Alan was preceded in death by his wife, Resa; parents; sons-in-law, Joseph Edgell and David Holter; siblings Donna Ervin, Carol Henkel, Clarence (Rocky) Ervin, Robert Ervin, and Brian Ervin.

Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2024, from 4-6 PM at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

The Rev Shawn Wasson will conduct the funeral service at 6 PM, Friday March 15, at the funeral home with full military honors following.

Memorial contributions are suggested to Bethany Baptist Church in Cape Girardeau.
