Alan Kenneth “Rack” Jones, age 87, of Millersville passed away Thursday, September 3, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Dec. 23, 1932, in Cape Girardeau County, Missouri, son of Tony and Vonnie Eddleman Jones. He and Irene Wunderlich were married April 19, 1952, in Cape Girardeau. She preceded him in death Aug. 31, 1994.
Alan retired in 1986 from Southwestern Bell Telephone Company after 35 years, and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
Loving survivors include a son, Wayne Jones of Jackson; four daughters, Carol (Jerry) Curtis of Perryville, Missouri, Loeta (the late Robert) Hahs of Oak Ridge, Leila Jones of Boaz, Alabama, and Laura (Korky) Bryant of Chaffee, Missouri; and two brothers, Freeman Jones of Farmington, Missouri and Ronnie Jones of Jackson; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, Irene Jones, he was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Jones, and a great-grandson, Sam Kennedy.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 8, 2020 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Elijah Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
