Alice L. (Hansen) Filer

Alice Lee Filer, 88, of Jackson, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2020, at Jackson Manor Nursing Home.

She was born March 28, 1932, in Gideon, Missouri, daughter to Lee and Geneva Winchester Hansen.

She and Buford C. Filer were married September 30, 1949, in Marble Hill, Missouri.  Their union was blessed with four children, Linda Kay, Judy Ann, John Michael, and Carol Sue.  Alice and Buford had been married 50 years when Buford passed away.

Alice was a member of the Red Hats Society and loved all the friends she made there.  She was a member of the S.O.S. group of Southeast Hospital. She solicited and collected items for the Pennys From Heaven auction to benefit the cancer group of Southeast hospital.  As well as being a homemaker, she had worked in a bank and in the County Collector's office. She and her husband, Buford established new car dealerships in Missouri, Illinois, and Tennessee. She loved her family and her Lord.

Alice loved to travel and to shop. She endured many heartbreaking losses and still manage to find the good and positive in life and the people around her. The word " no" was seldom in her vocabulary. She was always there and willing when someone needed her. Alice will be missed by all those whose lives she touched.

Loving survivors are two daughters Linda(David)Lucero and Carol (Richard) Reddick; grandchildren Tyson and his wife, Christina, Joseph, Katie, Ali, and Becky; great-grandsons, Dalton and Lance; brother Jack (Nel) Hansen; sisters Janet VanGennip and Kathy Wallis; and best friends Margie Kinder and Jewel McLain.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Buford Filer, son John Filer, daughter Judy McCullough, and a sister, Jo Ann Hansen.

A small, private service will be held on Thursday, July 30, 2020 at 10:00 am at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center was entrusted with Alice’s final arrangements.
