Allen Howard Boren, 84, of Jackson, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born June 16, 1936, in New Wells, to Clarence H. and Gusta Pfeiffer Boren. Allen was baptized and confirmed into Christian faith in the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. He was a longtime, faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
He was a 1955 graduate of Jackson High School. He and Mary Ann Steiner were married November 23, 1963, at Zion Lutheran Church in Pocahontas, Missouri.
Allen honorably served in the U.S. Army from September 20, 1955 to September 5, 1957, spending nearly 15 months in foreign or sea service, primarily in post-war Germany. He received a good conduct medal, Expert (sub machine gun), and Sharpshooter (M-1). After his military service, he enjoyed baseball and pitched many years in several local men’s baseball leagues.
His employment included Southwestern Bell, AT & T, and Southeast Hospital, retiring in 2000. When time allowed, he liked to hunt and fish.
Loving survivors include his wife of 57 years, Mary Ann Boren of Jackson; two daughters, Lori (Frank) Zieba and Lynn Boren of Jackson; two grandsons, Drew Zieba and Zander Zieba both of Jackson; and a brother, Roy (Jane) Boren of Jackson.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Geraldine (Gene) Leimbach.
Visitation is from 4 to 6 p.m., Saturday, May 1, 2021, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson and from 1 to 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
The funeral is at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 2, 2021, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to St. Paul Lutheran School or the Missouri Veterans Home Foundation.
