Betty Jane Watson, 86, of Jackson, passed away Wednesday, January 22, 2020, at Fountainbleau Lodge in Cape Girardeau.
She was born February 1, 1933, in East Prairie to Charles and Florence Smith Cowser. She attended school in East Prairie.
She was an attentive mother, grandmother, and most recently a great-great-grandmother to a loving family that affectionately called her JJ.
JJ had a beautiful voice, loved to sing, and often used her love of muic to praise the Lord. She always said she tried to live with a song and a prayer in her heart. She devoted her life to her family and her church family at Mount Auburn Christian Church in Cape Girardeau.
She is survived by two daughters Sharon (Dennis) Ulrich of Waverly, Tennessee and Judy Grier of Jackson; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents and several siblings.
Visitation is from 10:30 a.m. to service time, Friday, January 24, 2020, at Mount Auburn Christian Church, 930 N. Mount Auburn Road, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701.
The Rev. Casey Elmore will officiate the funeral ceremony at noon, Friday, January 24, 2020, at the church. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Mount Auburn Christian Church.
