Burna Dean Walker, 91, of Jackson passed away Sunday, May 28, 2023 at Southeast Health in Cape Girardeau.
She was born February 13, 1932 near Neely's Landing, daughter of August Edward and Louise Hesse Ackman. She and Chester Walker were married April 6, 1948. He preceded her in death January 10, 1980.
Burna was a long time member of New Bethel Baptist Church. She was an avid Cardinal baseball fan and was a fantastic cook but her specialties were pies and potato salad. Above all she loved her family. She owned Bernie's Restaurant in Overland Missouri in her earlier years.
Loving survivors include two children, Bonnie Kay (David) Hendrix of Pocahontas, Jeanette Lee (Patricia L. Kowalski) Hammer of Maryland Heights; five grandchildren Tony (Stasha) Wyman, Cynthia Marie (Robert Williams), Kurtis Walker, Dale Walker and Christopher Kowalski; one great grandchild, Annie Wyman; three step grandchildren Ashley Williams, Robbie Williams, Christopher Williams and two step great grandchildren.
Also surviving are a sister Sharon (the late Norman) Chapman of Cape Girardeau and a sister in law Geraldine (the late Waylon) Ackman.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Michael E Walker; four sisters and two brothers.
Visitation will be from 10:00 until service time Saturday, June 3, 2023 at New Bethel Baptist Church in Jackson.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the church with Rev. Zachary Rohman officiating.
Interment will follow in New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery.
