Christian August Wunderlich

Christian August “Chris” Wunderlich, 40, of Jackson, passed away Friday, Oct. 16, 2020 at his home.

He was born Nov. 19, 1979, in Cape Girardeau, son of Carey and Susan Bostic Wunderlich. He and Melissa “Missy” Deja were married Aug. 16, 2008 in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Chris was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson, where he was baptized and confirmed. He attended St. Paul Lutheran School, and graduated from Jackson High School in 1998, before proceeding to receive an Engineer Management degree from the University of Missouri-Rolla. He was employed by Daltile in Dallas, Texas, and had been working for T.G Missouri in Perryville, Missouri for 10 years.

Chris enjoyed volunteering and working with the local Boy Scouts of America organization, and riding side by sides with his kids and friends. He will be missed by many.

In addition to his wife of 12 years, Missy Wunderlich of Jackson, loving survivors include two children, August Edward Wunderlich and Olivia Mae Wunderlich of the home; his parents, Carey and Susan Wunderlich of Jackson; two sisters, Sara Wunderlich of St. Louis and Julie (Dean) Richardson of Cape Girardeau; a niece and nephew, Mia and Abe Richardson of Cape Girardeau; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Frank and Deborah Deja of Stevensville, Michigan; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, August and Flora Wunderlich, and maternal grandparents, Robert and Lorene Bostic.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, October 19, 2020 at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson. The service will be at 12 p.m. at the funeral home, with Rev. Joshua Schmidt officiating. Interment will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Boy Scouts of America Pack 312 or St. Paul Lutheran Church.
