David Earl Young, age 83 of Jackson passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born September 19, 1936, in Cape Girardeau, the son of Earl and Lucille Craig Young. He
married Anita "Louise" Pavish on June 4, 1960 in Wood River, Illinois. They were married 51 years at
the time of her passing on November 15, 2011.
David was a graduate of Cape Central High School in Cape Girardeau. He served in the Missouri
National Guard and later earned a degree St. Louis College of Pharmacy. Louise and David moved
from Cape Girardeau to Jackson in 1968. In 1977 they established Young's Thriftway Drugs in
Jackson and owned and operated the business until 1999.
David was an outdoorsman enjoying golf, hunting, and fishing and was an avid Cardinals baseball
fan.
Loving survivors include his sister Jenny Morrison and three sons, Steve (Bonnie) Young of Fenton,
Missouri, Gregory David Young of Jackson, and Brent Young of San Diego; four grandchildren Nate
(Jessica) Young, Colin Young, Julia Young; and Samuel David Young; and a great granddaughter
Reese Bonne' Young; and Lucky the cat.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Randol Young, a sister Pat
McDonald, and a daughter-in-law Lisa.
David’s family has elected to not have a memorial visitation or service at this time due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
