Dorothy J. Daume Heise 97, of Oak Ridge passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021, at the Monticello House in Jackson.
She was born September 23, 1923, in Cape Girardeau County, daughter of John W. and Meta Engelmann Daume, She and Lawrence Calvin Heise were married on February 7, 1942 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Egypt Mills. They were married 70 years when Lawrence passed away on March 6, 2012.
Dorothy was a member of the St. John’s United Church of Christ in Fruitland. She loved to sing in the church choir and offer special music performances. She was a Sunday school teacher for many years.
Dorothy was a 1942 graduate of Oak Ridge High School. She served many years as a 4-H leader. She was a member of a Oak Ridge Community Homemakers Club. She worked many years as an election official at the polls, and especially enjoyed helping on the family farm, working with the cows and tending to her garden.
Loving survivors include two daughters, Jeannie Dianne (Ron) Lohmann, Perryville, Missouri, Margaret Ann Heise (Craig Vitters) Los Angeles California, and one son Jon Calvin (Scarlett) Heise of Baxter, Tennessee; a son-in-law, John (the late Marietta Jo) Bochantin of Murphysboro, Illinois; five grandchildren: Dennis Hennecke, Larry Hennecke (Elizabeth Carney), Joshua (Jessica) Heise, Jennifer and Josephine Lohmann; and three great-grandchildren; Zachary, Connor, and Grace Heise.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and a daughter, Marietta Jo Bochantin; and four siblings, Louise (Lloyd) Schoenebeck, Martha (Elmer) Kamp, John J. (Delores) Daume, and Mary Meta Daume.
Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Friday, July 2, 2021, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m., Friday, July 2, 2021, at the funeral home, with Dr. Rodney Pensel officiating.
Interment will follow at St. John’s Cemetery in Fruitland.
The family suggests that contributions be made to St. John’s United Church of Christ Memorial Fund, St. John’s United Church of Christ Cemetery in Fruitland or Crown Hospice.
