Dorothy Helen Hottes, 85, of Jackson, formerly of Pinckneyville, Illinois, passed away Wednesday, July 8, 2020, at her home.
She was born March 10, 1935, in Ashley, Illinois, to Theodore and Gertrude Anilak Buretta. She and Louis Hottes were married March 28, 1969. They had been married 22 years when Louis passed away July 2, 1991.
Dorothy was a cook at Pinckneyville Jr. High School and was a member of St. Paul United Church of Christ in Pinckneyville. Dorothy took great pleasure in spending time with her grandchildren. She liked living on the farm in Pinckneyville, and especially enjoyed gardening, canning, quilting, and crocheting. Upon moving to Jackson in 2007, Dorothy started attending church at New Bethel Baptist Church near her home.
Loving survivors include two children, Scott (Leah) Hottes of Jackson, Beverly (Tracy) Hauck of Salem, Illinois; seven grandchildren, Dylan, Aidan, Adelyne, and Dalton Hottes, Evie Horn, Jess Skiles, and Robert Krawiecki; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Genevieve Goodisky of Christopher, Illinois and Loraine Przygoda of Pinckneyville; and a brother, Marion Buretta of Ashley, Illinois.
A memorial visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to service time, Friday, July 17, 2020, at New Bethel Baptist Church, 6137 County Road 525, Jackson, MO 63755. The Rev. Jacob Colwell will officiate a memorial service at 6 p.m., at the church. The family will observe a private graveside service at Mueller Hill Cemetery in Pinckneyville, where Dorothy will be laid to rest with Louis.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to New Bethel Baptist Church, 6137 CR 525, Jackson, MO 63755.
Cremation was accorded by McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
